Ask
yourself if you know anyone who had or has cancer? Friends,
family members, co-workers? One out of three Americans will be diagnosed
with cancer in their lifetime. Fortunately, the American Cancer Society
(ACS) makes strides every day to reduce these numbers and to aid those
fighting the disease. ACS helps raise awareness for cancer prevention,
early detection, treatment and patient support through their signature
event, “Relay for Life”.

Over the past four years Paradise Valley
Estates has supported ACS’s local “Relay for Life” by
helping with event setup and supporting a team. What is the Relay? It
is a community gathering where everyone can participate in the fight
against cancer.
The Ladies of the Night
Teams of people camp out at a local high
school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around
a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on
the track at all times during the event – because cancer never
sleeps. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24-hours in length.
