The
New Assisted Living Building is Taking Shape!
Paradise Valley Estates, (PVE), is pleased to announce
that plans have been approved for the construction of a new, comprehensive
Assisted Living building. The Haskell Company, of Jacksonville, Florida,
has been selected as contractor for this project.
To be completed in early 2007, this new three (3) story structure will
house 40 one-bedroom “social model” apartments. The new “social
model” provides a home-like environment with more independent
living services.
Our residents will be able to enjoy such amenities as a community “country” kitchen,
library, beauty/barber shop, spa, and a new expanded Wellness Clinic.
This addition will enhance our current continuum of care.
The new 43,000 square foot Assisted Living building will be attached
to the current Recreation Center, which is situated in the heart of
the campus. An additional 4,200 square feet will be added to the Recreation
Center to accommodate the residents ever expanding fitness
program.

The pace on the jobsite has certainly picked over the last couple of
weeks. The lime treatment of the new Estates Drive as well as the
parking lot in front of the Assisted Living building has been done
to stabilize the soil in preparation for paving. The "baserock",
which is used as the underlayment for the asphalt, will be installed
soon, which means we are getting closer to completing the re-location
of Estates Drive. This means that we will be able to take down the
detour signs and traffic flow will return to more normal conditions
throughout the community.
Building progress with foundation pour
and erection of steel. |
Foundations have been dug for the new building and concrete poured
in preparation for the steel erection to begin. The first truckload
of structural steel was delivered the week of weed of July 31st.
The large crane arrived and the steel began to go up. Each day more
and more steel goes up and we can see the shape and size of the new
building. Most of the steel erection has been completed and there
is approximately 240 tons of steel beams and columns.
Transferred utilities and installation
of plumbing, HVAC, and phone lines proceeds. |
Transfer of most of the utilities, including water and electric; have
been completed without any major disruptions to the rest of the community.
This included moving one of the large electrical transformers in front
of Building 2000 which set right across the street from the new Assisted
Living building. PG&E was able to complete the transfer of power
and relocation of the transformer in one night instead of the two days
originally scheduled. This was received with great joy by both the residents
and staff.
