I’m Winston. My vet says I’m a Lhasa Apso-Schnauzer-Terrier mix! I was rescued at age 8 in 2023 from the SPCA and came here to PVE, a wonderful place with all the plants to smell and mark. I’m told by everyone I’m really cute, so I must be! I’m very needy and whine to get attention. This year I campaigned for Pet Mayor of the Year on a platform of no meetings, and I won! But when I heard about a plan to develop a Pet Directory for the Pulse, I broke my promise and joined the committee. I’m not very sociable with other animals, maybe because I had a frightening episode in my earlier years. But I do love people who stop and give me their love on my walks throughout the PVE campus!

Vice MayorSylvester

Hello, my name is Sylvester and I moved to PVE in 2024. I was a rescue from the SPCA in December of 2003, and the transition to PVE was so fun. At my house I have big windows to look out of, lots of critters to watch outside, and great sinks to jump into for fresh water! In 2025, I was elected Vice Mayor! I wanted to be Vice Mayor to give all PVE kitties “a meow” in living here. Since most of us stay inside, residents don’t see us much, but we are here and very active — to say nothing of just plain cute! Our owners are full of advice for local vets, creative toys, delicious snacks, and where to get our “manis and pedis!”

Can I bring my pet with me when I move to Paradise Valley Estates?

No. Unlike many life plan communities that cap dogs at 25 or 30 pounds, Paradise Valley Estates has no size restrictions. Golden retrievers, shepherd mixes, poodles, and shih tzus are all equally welcome.

Dogs, cats, and birds are all welcome members of the PVE community.

Yes. The community recently completed a full renovation of the on-campus dog park, providing an off-leash space where dogs can run, play fetch, and socialize with other pets and their owners.

Paradise Valley Estates maintains a Pet Directory in the community’s internal newsletter, which helps residents find one another’s pets and share recommendations for vets, groomers, treats, and toys.
